Facebook and YouTube to Remove Content Directive to Whistleblower's Names

Social Media giants Facebook and YouTube have announced to remover any sort of content that mentions the potential name of the whistleblower.

Something that has largely thrilled U.S politics and more specifically the Trump’s political career.

“We are removing any and all mentions of the potential whistleblower’s name and will revisit this decision should their name be widely published in the media or used by public figures in the debate,” Facebook said in a statement on Friday.

“Any mention of the potential whistleblower’s name violates our coordinating harm policy, which prohibits content ‘outing of witness, informant, or activist,'” the spokesperson of Facebook added.

Meanwhile, YouTube also decided to remove videos that mention the potential whistleblower’s name.

A YouTube spokesperson said, “YouTube would use a machine learning as well as a human review to abolish the content.”

Ultimately, the company will delist every content that has a title and descriptions of videos in relation to a whistleblower.

Last week, some right-wing media hyped a report from a website that claimed to identify a possible whistleblower. However, the picture of the so-called whistleblower was wrong.
