Kashmir and increasing islamophobia in India
Thousands of people poured to streets against brutality of Indian Forces in Kashmir. Jammu and Kashmir has been blazing since India revoked the special autonomy status of valley. Meanwhile increasing Islamophopia in different parts of India producing more hate.
Police and Army used tear gas and pellet guns to stop citizens protesting undo of Article 270 from Indian constitution. Meanwhile, at least 500 people including separatists, social activists and lawmakers were arrested.
All communication resources have been shut down in Jammu & Kashmir. Citizens face terrible situation as telephone and internet services are completely cut off.
A complete SOS situation is implemented in Srinagar and around that led around scores of citizens wounded. Hospitals lacking doctors and medical staff, while transportation is terminated in valley. Masses came out on streets defying strict curfew and bearing bullets of security forces.
Stuck In Between Two Nuclear Powers
The Kashmir dispute has been reason of tension between Pakistan and India since their independence in 1947. Both the nuclear powers have fought three wars over Kashmir issue.
In a response to Indian move to undo Article 270, Pakistan cut off train service and shrank out diplomatic staff. While Indian Premier labeled his act as “The beginning of a new era”.
Increasing Islamophobia in India
Consisting of 1.34 billion people India is second most populated country in the world. This mass population includes 200 million Muslims as integral part. The secular constitution of India also give space to Sikhs, Christians and Buddhists minorities.
The reluctant Hindutva groups in India have always been shaky towards minorities. In case of Muslims, they turn out more vigilant.
Right wing Hindu groups in India are concerned about increasing Muslim population in country. A campaign of population control in Northern and Central India is gaining momentum. This movement reflects the core ideology of Hindutva group that Muslims are trying to overtake Hindus in India.
The Jansankhya Samadhan Foundation (Population Resolution Foundation) is an active NGO for the task. The organization is travelling across India, gathering support for a two-day march to New Delhi. The march is aimed to aware Pro Hindu forces about future consequences of Muslim population.
“If we don’t bring in a law now, India will see a civil war very soon,” said an active member of movement.
What is Hindutva?
Hindutva is a concept propagated by right wing Hindus. It defined Hinduism as ‘Culture and Complete Lifestyle’. This group of people usually involve to enforce teachings of Hinduism over non Hindu community of country.
This has victimized many people in form of force marriages, beef eating and raising pro Hindu slogans. The offenders never caught serious punishment by the justice system of India.
Blazing Kashmir and World Powers
United Nations have multiple resolutions about Kashmir and its ultimate resolve. But the global agency has failed to showcase any firm and final settlement of dispute.
Moreover, the blatant diplomacy from both sides refrain world powers to take vibrant stance. Pakistan is willing to have third party interference, while India strongly denies any intervention.
During a recent visit to United States, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan highlighted the issue before Trump. He asked President Trump to intervene on Kashmir for larger peace solution in South Asia.
Trump welcomed the request and revealed that Indian Premier had also made such request to him, a claim swiftly denied by India.
